So I decided to tune my BC Rich to drop c for some proper chugs and was trying to figure out which strings would have sufficient tension without being too stiff. While researching I stumbled across this cool tension calculator:

What you end up choosing? I would guess maybe a set of 12's would be good - did you do something custom?

I've been playing around with it too recently. Since a baritone guitar is probably not in the cards for me this year, I've been thinking about stringing the strat as if it were a baritone in Bb standard (with the anticipation that would tune down to drop A when getting the chug notion. I'm really more curious if I can get a Cure-ish sound out of it.

I have no idea if it will work. I played around with a couple string configurations and can keep the total tension within a pound - but who knows how it will even play - I really hope I can avoid having to do too much. I'd really just like to widen the string paths on the nut (no going back on that!) and have it just work, but its never that easy...
