Blueprints could be a set of cards, so a "blueprint" token would allow you to draw a blueprint card. The card would contain a picture of the item as well as the required resources you have to spend at the foundry or weapon bench to craft it. A blueprint token would be an equipment spawn, so you would get that instead of a medical bay or radio or whatever.
